Dr. de la Rocha is no stranger to controversy. In April 1993, he received a suspended sentence, three years probation and a six-month suspension of his medical licence for his role in the October 1991 death of a 68-year-old lung cancer patient. He admitted dosing her with a noxious substance -- potassium chloride -- as well as morphine.

Dr.Claudio Alberto De La ROCHA, the very same surgeon who performed a left lung pneumonectomy on Arlene Berry in Timmins on January 13th of 2000, had previously been charged with failure to maintain the standard of practice and breaking the law after administering a noxious substance to end the life of a 68 year old patient. Arlene Berry was also administered a noxious substance (which exascerbated her condition) while under the care of Dr. Edward Henry Jordan of Kirkland Lake, ON.

As a former thoracic surgeon in Timmins, de la Rocha operated on lung cancer patients for 17 years. de laRocha , was also Acting Medical Officer of Health for the Porcupine Health Unit situated in Timmins, Ontario involved in influenza pandemic research working in close proximity with highly virulent "contagion" (a hallmark of the drug-resistant nosocomial (hospital acquired) superbugs before quitting. Filthy hospitals also breed superbugs. de la Rocha had a vested interest in the West Nile Virus, and in fact is a Co-author on the subject of estimating the "Prevalence of West Nile Virus Infection. West Nile Virus is like the flu.

Guillain-Barre-like syndrome associated with West Nile virus (WNV) infection is very much similar to the classic Guillain-Barre syndrome. The literature describes severe brainstem disease with loss of brainstem reflexes, labile vital signs and features of "locked-in syndrome", often associated with mixed axonal degenerating and demyelinating processes in both GBS and WNV.

Most infections are asymptomatic and less than 1% of those infected develop severe illness. WNV may cause encephalitis, aseptic meningitis, or atypical Guillain-Barré syndrome (GBS) in humans.

Acute inflammatory demyelination is a unique disorder simulating brain neoplasm. Acute inflammatory demyelinating lesions present as large masses that mimic brain tumors. Headaches and motor deficits are the most common presenting symptoms. Speach problems and motor deficits are the most common findings on physical examination. Brain tumors, infections, congenital disorders, trauma, vascular disorders, degeneration, immunologic and metabolic disorders, toxicities, and idiopathic disorders may result in similar clinical signs..

A predominance of polymorphonuclear leukocytes in CSF suggests a suppurative meningitis probably due to bacterial infection or to severe viral encephalitis. The presence of multiple cell types in CSF, including macrophages, lymphocytes, neutrophils and sometimes plasma cells is generally the result of a granulomatous inflammation, such as occurs with fungal, protozoal, and some idiopathic diseases.

Evidence of West Nile encephalitis virus infection has been documented in most states of the continental United States United States territory, including the adjacent territorial waters, located within North America between Canada and Mexico. Health care providers are mostly aware of the usual presentations of this disease, eg, aseptic meningitis, encephalitis and Guillain-Barre syndrome.

Compare: The Arlene Berry Case: de la Rocha is suspected of involvement via experimental parasitology, or of being the carrier and/or transmitter of an infectious disease.
